Robot Hawk(en)

More footage from the Robot Front! You may remember Hawken from a few posts back, and if you don't you should; this game looks awesome. It's built on the Unreal engine, so one might expect it would.

This most recent video brings us in-game first person footage and it's amazing. Besides the visuals being much more than often expect from and indie developer, the gameplay looks pretty solid as well. See for yourself.

Looking forward to this one.

I WILL BUY THIS GAME

First, a look at the trailer about a bad ass lawn ornament:

Now, slowly realize that this game isn't real. It's going to be ok. I am not going to buy this game and neither are you, because this is just a fan made video created in something called Gmod. It was still fun to watch though.

GIRP

All over the internet right now: GIRP

It's a flash game and you climb a wall! A wall! It's great! Doesn't it sound great? Ok fine it sounds dumb, but I'm telling you, it's unique control scheme makes it interesting. And there's this bird who is a real ass. My high score is 14.7m  Go try to beat it.

It's a bird... It's a plane... It's a robotic bird!!!

Yay for robots. I firmly believe that 100% of our tax money should go towards funding robotic research. This is the platform I shall be running on in the upcoming elections.

Anyway, look, robo-birds. Less creepy than the humanoid robots we witnessed earlier.

If we pour all of our money into robots, then maybe we can develop robotic bees which could replace normal bees, which are going extinct btw, and avoid the Bee-pocalypse.

Are you thinking with Portals?

In an attempt to promote upcoming super awesome game, Portal 2, Valve is giving you the chance to invest in Aperture Laboratories, the company that created the Portal Gun! A new video will be released each week until April 19th (when Portal 2 is released) highlighting different products and aspects of Aperture. This week: Panels!

I am blown away by the promotional videos Valve has been making. Reminds me (and much of the internet) of Pixar films. Luckily the high quality of the videos mirrors the quality of the video games they represent, unlike Back in the Day (TM) when you would see some radical cut scenes from a game and get all pumped only to realize the game was lame.

Also don't forget to join the conversation about what stuff you want to see on MSARGE.COM!

Switch-a-roo

"Are you tired of posts about Indie Games? Burnt out on endless links to random videos? Does the lack of original content have you feeling down? Then look no further! The New and Improved* MSARGE dot com will cure what ales you!"
*New and Improved in spirit only. Does not guarantee change.
After many months of blogging aimlessly, I've finally come upon a niche and I already want to switch it up. It would appear that I mostly post about indie and otherwise lesser known video games, and while I fully intend to continue bringing you info on interesting video games, I wouldn't mind bringing more to the table. The blog-table. Maybe I could cover another somewhat similar subject. Or perhaps I could attempt to create some original content. I would love to try to bring some comedy to the blog.
This is what my blog-table looks like.
So this is where I am. Wanting to expand, but still unsure of what new direction to take. I am interested in most forms of entertainment, so I have something to say about most of them. Should I cover all the stuff I think is cool in all forms of media? Or should I start making a poorly drawn webcomic? What about that podcast I've been wanting to make for months? How about I start up my long lost hobby of making humorous videos? Or I could just keep posting about indie games except with a little more consistency and some reviews and whatnot. Maybe I should start a late-night talk show.

Too Long; Didn't Read: What do you say readers, what would you like to see on MSARGE.COM?

Indie Robo Shoots

Look here, less creepy robots than before. Indie game creator Adhesive Games is creating one nice looking Mech shooter. The game gets it looks from running on the Unreal Engine, and having what must be a very talented team, as there are only nine people working on the game. What!?

Thank you to Rock Paper Shotgun for bringing this to my attention.

Unreal: Shaky Cam

Epic Games recently showed off the newest version of their Unreal engine at the Game Devolopers Conference, and it blew everyone away. But there was no footage for the average internet dweller to see and judge the new engine, until now.

This is what Epic expects to be able to pull off with the next generation of video gaming hardware.

Thanks to Venture Beat for the video and info.

Magicka: Vietnam

Super fun, mostly no longer buggy indie game, Magicka, has an upcoming expansion. An expansion that takes the fumbling wizards of the original and sends them to Vietnam. After you let the idea sink in, it makes sense, as it fits with the game's Monty Python-esque humor. Here is the trailer:

Magicka is still only 10 bucks on Steam, and I still highly recommend it. The expansion is due this spring.
